Abstract
Flowing times of a binary mixture were determined using an AMVn Anton Paar viscometer. The mixture studied was n,n-Dimetilformamida + 1-butanol over the entire range of mole fractions at seven temperatures, from 283.15 to 313.15 K. From the data obtained, the absolute viscosity, viscosity deviations, coefficients of the Redlich-Kister equation, activation parameters of viscous flow and excess thermodynamic properties were calculated. The results were interpreted in terms of the interactions present in the solution. The system showed negative deviations for the viscosity, which could mean disruption of hydrogen bonds present in the alcohol and the presence of weak physical interactions between unlike molecules in the mixture. This is in agreement with the values obtained for the excess activation parameters of viscous flow.
