Abstract
In the modern society problems with eyesight affect a minimum of twenty percent of population. As a result of ageing process, it is expected that till the year 2020, the problem of visual impairment will be experienced by increasing number of humankinds. There is a relationship between impaired vision in older age and reduced quality of life and increased risk of dangerous situations faced in the kitchen. The paper is an attempt to meet and describe the desires and needs of people with visual impairment. The results of the survey research conducted among people with sight problems were presented, being the basis for elaboration of design concepts for kitchen furniture. The selected solutions of kitchen furniture design dedicated to people with visual impairment enabling them to increase the comfort of living were described.
