Abstract
We first review the recent developments of studies on solitons in higher dimensions. Next we extract two characteristics about solitons in higher dimensions : (i) these solitons are written by the special functions such as the Bessel function, (ii) existence of the transfor-mation which connects 1 + 1d soliton equation and its cylindrical or spherical equation. We check that to what extent these two characteristics hold in the recently found examples of the various higher dimensional solitons.
