Abstract

Rotational splitting parameters for a large number of low‐order spheroidal and torsional free oscillations of the earth are computed. These results show that rotation introduces serious errors in estimates of density, Lamé parameters, and dissipation obtained from the free oscillations. Methods of correcting for these rotational effects are discussed. Copyright © 1965 by the American Geophysical Union.
