Abstract

The article presents a conversation between Robin Champieux, vice president of business development for Ebook Library, and Steven Carrico, acquisitions librarian for the Smathers Libraries of the University of Florida, regarding library science conferences. Champieux notes that conferences such as the Charleston Conference and the Collection Development and Resource Sharing Conference included discussions regarding collection development at academic libraries, library budgets and how best practices related to print materials can be applied to electronic books. Carrico discusses the need for different business models for electronic books and the sharing of resources by libraries.
