Abstract

(Chemical Equation Presented) Short and sweet: A five-step, protecting-group-free formal synthesis of (-)-platencin from commercially available (-)-perillaldehyde (see retrosynthetic scheme) features a highly diastereoselective Diels-Alder reaction and a ring-closing metathesis as key steps. © 2008 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
