Abstract
The present paper discusses the psychometric evaluation of adapted version of Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) in Hindi language. This scale was developed by Diener, Emmons, Larsen and Griffin (1985) which assessesthe global life satisfaction of an individual. Back-translation method was used to translate the original scale. The sample consisted of 426 participants drawn from urban and rural areas of Varanasi. Male and female participants belonging to four age groups (i.e., 15-20, 25-30, 45-50 and 60-70 years) were included in the sample. Data analyses show that all the items of translated scale have moderate reliability. Confirmatory factor analysis produces the original single factor structure of SWLS.
