Abstract

The interaction phenomenon of the reflected shock with the boundary layer in a shock tube was observed optically by schlieren method, and the growth rate of the bifurcation and the velocity of the reflected shock were clarified. Further, based on the present and previous experimental data, and modifying the previous flow models, a new flow model was presented on the interaction of the reflected shock with the boundary layer. The growth rate of the bifurcation and the velocity of the reflected shock calculated by this model are in fair to good agreement with experimental results.
