Abstract
The objective of the present study was to descriptively analyze the behavior of the epidemiological data of dengue, zika, and chikungunya in Brazil in the period from 2018 to 2020, aiming to understand how the COVID-19 pandemic may have influenced the notifications of these arboviruses. This is a quantitative study, of applied nature, with the objective of describing the epidemiological behavior of these arboviruses in Brazil. Data from the Epidemiological Bulletins published weekly by the Secretariat of Health Surveillance of the Ministry of Health were analyzed. In the year 2018 a total of 265,458 probable cases of dengue, 118,777 probable cases of chikungunya and 19,548 probable cases of zika were notified. In the year 2019, a total of 1,554,113 probable cases of dengue, 178,147 probable cases of chikungunya and 30,500 probable cases of zika were reported. In 2020, 987,173 probable cases of dengue, 82,419 probable cases of chikungunya, and 7,387 probable cases of zika were reported. With these results and the cuts per epidemiological week, it was observed that there was a reduction in the notifications of cases of arboviruses. The mobilization to identify the cases of COVID-19 corroborated the hypothesis of underreporting of arboviruses starting in 2020.
