Determinantes económicos de los flujos de viajeros a México

Abstract

Mexico has become one of the top tourist destinations in the world, which is reflected in the high places obtained in the international rankings. However, the Mexican tourism sector has presented a strong dependence on the US economy. That is why in this work by using a Structural Vector Autoregressive Model, SVAR, we examine and measure the impact of the US economic growth and the exchange rate Peso-American Dollar on the total visitor arrivals to Mexico. We have found that both variables have had a positive and a statistically significant influence on the Mexican tourism sector.
