Abstract
Objective: to understand health education in the practices of the health professional subsystem under the perspective of students and teachers of a Graduate Program. Method: qualitative research, structured from the theoretical and methodological framework of Paulo Freire, consisting of three dialectic moments held in the Culture Circles: thematic investigation; encoding and decoding; critical revelation. There was the participation of 13 students and three teachers of the Graduate Program in Nursing of a public University in southern Brazil. Results: ten themes were disclosed in relation to health education, grouped into two topics: the health education addressing difficulties of articulation of knowledge in professional practice; and education and public policies. Conclusions: in the subsystem health professional practices, health education, in the perspective graduate teachers and students, is linked the difficulties in articulating knowledge and weaknesses in relation to public policies.
