Abstract

In this study, the objective was to perform a systematic review of national literature based on financial education, with the purpose of highlighting the main results generated by the said studies. To reach this goal, the corpus of the study was constituted of studies published in periodicals classified in the strata of Qualis Periódicos A1, A2, B1 and B2, over the period from the year 2000 to September 2020. From the content analysis, the following thematic categories were identified and discussed from the results of those studies under analysis: the effects of learning related to financial education; the effects of the absence of learning related to financial education; the relationship between financial education and sociodemographic variables; and critical perspectives on financial education and the model for its implementation. Furthermore, identification and discussion ensued for the following theme categories that originated from the contributions or implications generated by the studies: improvement of the implementation of the Financial Education Program in Schools; strengthening of the role of human resources departments in dissemination of financial education to the workers; and the implementation of public policies directed to financial education. Highlighted herein are the theoretical and practical contributions that originated from this revision, in addition to implications for educational and work organizations.
