Abstract

The Ammatoa Kajang community obeys Pasang ri Kajang as a legal instrument because it originates from Tu Rie A'rakna (God). This research explores the issue that forest destruction occurs because it no longer pays attention to local wisdom. The purpose of this paper is to look at Pasang ri Kajang as a way of life in the Ammatoa Kajang community for environmental justice and the legal philosophy of Pasang ri Kajang in protecting the forest function for the Ammatoa Kajang community. This research is normative research with a qualitative approach. The results of this study show that the Ammatoa Kajang community views the forest as an ecosystem that must be maintained because it is a source of life and livelihood that comes from Tu Rie A'rakna and is enshrined in Pasang ri Kajang, which is also a guide to the life of the Ammatoa Kajang community. There is a holistic understanding based on local wisdom; so, the Ammatoa Kajang community, through Pasang Ri Kajang, has realised environmental justice.
