Abstract

This study discusses the pattern of regeneration in the Islamic organization of Persatuan Islam (PERSIS), both of historically and contemporary context. By using descriptive analysis, this study found the fact that in its early history, the forming of cadre in PERSIS was done culturally. At this stage, regeneration takes place naturally in the pattern of teacher-student relations. In its further development, the regeneration was more structured through educational media, both formal (PERSIS Pesantren) and non-formal (preaching courses / preachers). The institutionalization of PERSIS regeneration is stipulated in the PERSIS Qanun (articles of association) as well as the PP PERSIS Jam'iyyah Guidelines. However, this study also shows the fact that the regeneration system in PERSIS is not yet comprehensive and integrated. Therefore, this study recommends that PERSIS develop an integrated system of justice for all stakeholders.
