Dos propósitos e modos de se escrever histórias

Abstract

O presente artigo tem como objetivo analisar as principais ideias a respeito dos propósitos e métodos das escritas da história da geografia que compõem o conjunto de artigos publicados na Transactions of the Institute of British Geographers em 1995. Tal conjunto de artigos é resultante de um debate ocorrido no mesmo ano sobre o tema das tradições geográficas, a partir da obra The Geographical Tradition (1992) do geógrafo britânico David Livingstone.El presente artículo tiene como objetivo analizar las principales ideas acerca de los propósitos y métodos de la escritura de la historia de la geografía que componen el conjunto de artículos publicados en la Transactions of the Institute of British Geographers en 1995. Este conjunto de artículos es el resultado de un debate sucedido en el mismo año sobre el tema de las tradiciones geográficas, a partir de la obra The Geographical Tradition (1992) del geógrafo británico David Livingstone.Cet article pour objectif d'analyser les idées principales sur les objectifs et les méthodes d'écriture de l'histoire de la géographie qui composent l'ensemble des articles publiés dans le publication Transactions of the Institute of British Geographers en 1995. Cette série d'articles est le résultat d'un débat qui s'est tenu dans la même année sur la question des traditions géographiques, du livre The Geographical Tradition (1992) du géographe britannique David Livingstone.The goal of this paper is to analyze the main ideas about the purposes and methods of writing histories of geography presented in the set of papers published in the Transactions of the Institute of British Geographers in 1995. This set of papers is the result of a debate held in the same year about the geographical traditions, which had as a conductor the book The Geographical Tradition (1992) from the British geographer David Livingstone.
