Abstract

Zinc acetylacetonate hydrate undergoes on heating a decomposition to form mesitylene and acetate ions, the latter being found in the novel compound Zn2(CH3CO2)(C5H7O2)3. Anhydrous zinc acetylacetonate does not undergo this decomposition under analogous experimental conditions. The acetate compound and an analogous benzoate may also be obtained by an independent route. © 1964, American Chemical Society. All rights reserved.
