Abstract
Multiple perpetrator sexual assaults are a type of crime increasingly present in our society. Over the last few years, research on this subject has focused on conducting descriptive studies, among other issues, on circumstances in which these aggressions are carried out, characteristics of the aggressors, and consequences they are supposed to have on victims. Because most of the studies have emerged in recent decades, there are hardly any explanatory theories trying to understand these sexual offences, so more research is needed. A systematic review of most recent research and theoretical models analyzing the phenomenon of multiple perpetrator sexual assaults was carried out. Research limits are discussed and other future lines of research are proposed.
