Abstract

This paper is a case study in the municipality of Teodoro Sampaio, Pontal do Paranapanema, to determine the environmental fragility, developed from the methodological proposal by ROSS (1994) in “Empirical analysis of the fragility of natural and humanized environments” (Análise empírica da Fragilidade dos Ambientes Naturais e Antropizados), using the Ecodynamical Units concept. The objective of this environmental fragility study is to evaluate degradation susceptive areas to subsidize planning actions that restrict and direct land use. These actions are planned to prevent and minimize the appearance of problems related to environmental quality. The study area was selected because it contains different forms of land use, with natural and anthropic characteristics. Secondary data was obtained from previous studies and field surveys were carried out to characterize four important factors for the final analysis: land use/vegetal cover, relief, soil and climate.
