Abstract
Table II in the original paper1 was incorrect; the correct version is given below. The adhesion strengths have increased compared to the original publication due to an incorrect conversion factor in Ref. 1. The new adhesion strengths mean that the entropy now ostensibly appears to drive adsorption on the Q3 surface instead of opposing it, although the error associated with the entropy estimation is such that the sign of the entropic contribution is uncertain. The estimated critical diameter for membrane wrapping of amorphous silica particles is now 10 nm (instead of 16 nm). Overall, we conclude that crystalline silica nanoparticleswith diameters less than 15 nm are unlikely to bind to bilayer membranes. All other conclusions remain unchanged. (Table Presented).
