Abstract

Children who have suffered intrafamiliar sexual abuse have a hard time dealing with the consequences of it. We must recognize this difficulty in order to help the child to overcome the loss of the family environment and the abuse itself. To acknowledge this pain is basic before we start our work due to the depth and impact of the trauma and with the idea of beginning the healing process. This case study presents an intervention model that I developed to facilitate work with a 9-year-old girl in foster care who comes to art therapy derived from the clinical psychology specialist. In this article I collect the phases of the intervention process that I designed by studying different intervention processes found in the literature. These models were designed to work with trauma cases and I adapted them to the characteristics of intrafamiliar sexual abuse cases. This intervention model has served as the basis for subsequent interventions in this area as it allows me to work on the particularities of trauma processes due to child sexual abuse in general and intrafamily sexual abuse in particular.
