Abstract

The present study, discuss methodologies about how to prioritize the sectors and activities for the development of the economy of the Puno region. Given examples. The methodology of the Domestic Resource Cost is presented to determine and prioritize the activities with which more foreign currency is earned or more foreign currency is saved; the importance of quinoa and products derived from South American camelids has been forecasted. Another methodology is the use of the table of input - product for the region of Puno, to see which sectors of the economy contribute most, the results indicate that in terms of employment and production the most important sectors are agriculture (which creates employment) and industry (which gives added value), however, these two sectors need to be articulated. The third methodology discusses the model of growth, competitiveness and clusters proposed by Michael Porter. Macroeconomic indicators are used and, based on these indicators, their growth rates and the contribution of each sector of the regional economy are measured. In general, it is necessary to leave the model of primary production of raw materials, giving added value to products, work competitiveness and innovation.
