Abstract

4-Amino-1,2,4-triazole reacts at 25 °C with nitrobenzene and some substituted nitrobenzenes in the presence of potassium tert-butoxide in Me2SO to give 4-nitroanilines in good yields. The reaction represents an extension of Makosza’s vicarious substitution to a convenient nitrogen nucleophile. © 1986, American Chemical Society. All rights reserved.
