Abstract

The application of the honesty canteen as an effort in building the character of students in junior high school This study aims to examine the effectiveness of implementing an honesty canteen as an effort to build student character in junior high schools. This study used a descriptive method with research subjects in charge of the canteen and students at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Sidoarjo. Data was collected through observation, interviews and documentation. The results of the study show that the application of an honesty canteen has effectiveness in shaping the character of students at Junior High School. The results showed that honesty, responsibility, and discipline were the characters that increased the most after the implementation of the honesty canteen. In addition, this study also shows that students feel more confident and appreciate hard work after implementing the honesty canteen. This research provides important implications for the formation of student character in schools. As a recommendation, it is necessary to widely implement honesty canteens in schools to shape the character of students who have integrity and have an honest attitude.
