Abstract
This paper focuses on school tourism from its origins to the present day, specifically it addresses the case of study trips as non-formal education to improve the student’s basic skills. For this study has been used comparative historical research in the countries of Spain and Italy, both areas have been chosen since they are ideal destinations for their cultural and territorial conditions for this type of school tourism. Nowadays, many tour operators are launching into the market offering alternatives to classic services for school groups, improving this educational offer through excursions and didactic activities.
