Abstract

Shallow grooves "J-groove" formed on a casing wall can suppress the several anomalous phenomena in turbomachineries. In the present study, J-groove was applied to an inducer to suppress the rotating cavitation. Through the experiments under various conditions with and without Jgroove, it was clarified that rotating cavitation can be almost suppressed by using J-groove. However, it was found that cavitation surge occurs at relatively high cavitation number. Flow field and cavity at tip were examined to clarify the effect of J-groove on the flow in an inducer.
