Abstract

This article, based on an action-research led in a big pharmaceutical company, suggests that management tools can be considered as texts. Such a "narrative" approach highlights the way a tool is incorporated into the all set of tools already used by the organization. It describes how middle-managers as well as operators elaborate, through their reading activities, the strategy actually put into practice by the company.
