Abstract

The health status oi high-altitude population in Qinghai (China), Ladakh (India), and Arunachal (India) was investigated using comprehensive geriatric iunctional assessment in relation to their recent liiestyle change with the socio-economic globalization. People in urban areas had a higher prevalence oi liiestyle-related diseases and poorer geriatric iunctions, and a lower subjective quality oi liie (QOL) than people in rural areas. The optimal prevention oi lifestyle-related diseases and preservation oi a high QOL are important ior the people living in each oi the above-mentioned areas with a high altitude. © 2013 The Japan Geriatrics Society.
