Abstract

Conversions of oak coppices were many times carried out only by renaming to false high forests. The paper presents a method of the conversion of overmature coppices to a coppice-with-standards implementation of which was started in urban forests of Moravsky Krumlov. The method is inspired by Nanquett's method and conversions by J. Wiehl. The objective is to manage according to selection principles in a coppice-with-standards. In experimental plots established in 1999, the increment of standards and the development of natural regeneration of sessile oak were monitored in particular.
