Abstract

The principles of chemotherapy in orthopadic tuberculosis and the management of of the tuberculous knee in particular are described. Four broad types of tuberculosis of the knee and the therapeutic approach to each are described. The place of synovectomy with debridement of the joint under chemotherapy cover is described for those patients with disease more advanced than that of the synovium only but for whom a mobile joint is still a reasonable hope.
