Abstract

Abstract. This literature sutdy gathered various previous studies to show the relationship between late-night eating with body mass index (BMI) and body fat levels, the results of this study showed a relationship between late-night eating habits with body mass index (BMI) and body fat levels. Previous studies have revealed a mechanism between late-night eating habits and increased BMI and body fat levels. That is, someone with an eating disorder is more at risk for having a higher BMI and body fat levels compared to people without eating disorders. This late-night eating habit has a role in the circadian cycle that regulates several metabolic effects on the body, such as glucose metabolism, sleep cycles, diet, and fat synthesis. Abstrak. Studi literatur ini mengumpulkan berbagai studi sebelumnya untuk menunjukan mengenai hubungan makan larut malam  dengan indeks massa tubuh (IMT) dan kadar lemak tubuh. hasil studi ini menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang dantara kebiasaan makan larut malam dengan indeks massa tubuh (IMT) dan kadar lemak tubuh. Penelitian-penelitian sebelumnya mengungkapkan mekanisme antara kebiasaan makan larut malam dengan peningkatan IMT dan kadar lemak tubuh. Artinya, seseorang dengan gangguan pola makan lebih beresiko untuk memiliki IMT dan kadar lemak tubuh yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan orang tanpa gangguan pola makan. Kebiasaan makan larut malam ini memiliki peran dalam siklus sirkadian yang mengatur beberapa efek metabolik pada tubuh, seperti metabolisme glukosa, siklus tidur, pola makan, dan sintesis lemak.
