Abstract

The crystal structures of Co2P and Ru2P were refined by using single-crystal methods. Both phosphides crystallize in the C 23 structure type. A structural comparison with related phosphides and silicides is given. Co2P has an extended homogeneity range at higher temps., the P-rich limit at 1000 Deg corresponds to the formula Co1.94P. There are evidences that the widening of the homogeneity range is connected with random vacancies on metal atom sites.
