Interac¸ão de fungos entomopatogênicos com parasitoide para manejo de Diatraea flavipennella (Box) (Lepidoptera: Crambidae)

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the performance of Cotesia flavipes (Cam.) parasitoid along with the entomopathogenic fungi Metarhizium anisopliae (Metsch.) Sorok and Beauveria bassiana (Bals.) Vuill on Diatraea flavipennella (Box), providing important information on new strategies for being used in the Integrated Management of sugarcane moth borers. Isolates of M. anisopliae PL-43 and of B. bassiana ESALQ 447 were used for experiments. The experimental design was completely randomized, consisting of six treatments with eight replicates with five larvae each one, totaling 40 larvae per treatment. Results show that in treatments in which M. anisopliae was used, caused high mortality, was used there was not parasitoid development, occurring mortality only by the fungus. However, in treatments that used B. bassiana there was parasitoid development, causing mortality in larvae by the fungus and by the parasitoid. However, B. bassiana and M. anisopliae must be used with care in Integrated Pest Management in which C. flavipes parasitoid is also used, because fungi can affect the parasitoid development.
