Abstract

This article is a response to concerns raised locally following the publication of United Kingdom national figures which showed that class sizes in primary schools continue to rise. It describes ways in which headteachers and their staff manage large classes and contributes to the debate on the effect that large classes have upon pupils and their teachers. © 1997 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
