Abstract
As it stands today, acidity and basicity are chemical concepts of broad scope and applicability. However, for a long time, both properties remain mysterious and misunderstood as a concept, although being relatively well known facing their sensory nature. Over the centuries, the acidity and basicity properties were finally associated with two well defined chemical groups - acids and bases. In more recent times, these concepts were relativized. This article aims to present some historical and unusual aspects of this topic.
