Ranking of students in accordance with the level of creative potential based on the method of the hierarchy analysis method and the fuzzy sets theory

Abstract

The task of higher education is to provide students with fundamental knowledge and relevant professional skills. No less important, if not the main, is the task of forming a creative personality and providing a high level of creative potential of the student. The aims of the proposed work are to determine the importance of the criteria of creative potential of the individual using the statistical data and to calculate the relative assessment of the level of creative potential of several individuals. This work used the method of expert estimates, elements of correlation analysis, the Hierarchy Analysis Method (HAM) and the Fuzzy Sets Theory (FST). On the basis of expert assessments established: what is the opinion of experts the importance of criteria of creative potential; the lack of correlation between them; the homogeneity of the set of criteria values, with the exception of one, what allows to consider their arithmetic mean values as an adequate estimate of random variables corresponding to the criteria under consideration. As a result of quality pairwise comparisons through the HAM algorithm the relative priorities are computed for each criterion for the three research objects which are the graduates of higher education institution. With the use of FST, their advantage was determined in accordance with the level of creative potential. It is noted that in solving multicriteria problems, neglecting the seemingly insignificant of the criteria nonequilibrium can lead to an uncertain result. It is shown that to eliminate such uncertainty it is necessary to take into account even the smallest difference in the criteria importance. Due to its simplicity, the considered multi-criteria ranking algorithm can be used without significant difficulty to solve various problems of choosing the best option faced by educators in the educational process.
