Abstract

One pot synthesis of 2-(substitutedphenyl)-3-[5-(substitutedphenyl)-1,3,4- thiadiazol-2-yl]thiazolidin-4-one was developed by the reaction of 1,3,4-thiadiazole, substituted benzaldehyde and mercaptoacetic acid. These compounds were identified by IR, 1H NMR, elemental analyses and 2-(4-methoxyphenyl)-3-[5-(3-methylphenyl)-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl] thiazolidin-4-one was confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction.
