Abstract
Ηigh availability of cotton stalk residues for biogas production. Biotreatment of cotton stalks with rumen fluid enhanced biomass hydrolysis step. Cotton stalks treatment with rumen microbiota improved biogas production by 6.6–16.1-fold. The highest biogas production was observed at 4% w/v cotton stalks in rumen fluid. The syntrophic Ca. Cloacimonas and the acetoclastic Methanothrix were the major taxa.
