Abstract

Suito et al. measured the distribution of phosphorus between MgO-saturated slags and liquid iron at 1550, 1600 and 1650 degree C and discussed their results in terms of Flood and Grjotheim's treatment. The purpose of the communication is to suggest an alternative method of analyzing the data. In the present examination the theoretical optical basicity, as defined by Duffy and Ingram, is used as a quantitative measure of slag basicity.
