In this article it is argued that Primary Health Care is an appropriate scene for medical training in Colombia, and that professionals with that orientation will be able to make significant contributions to the transformation of health attention toward equity. The present situation of health attention in Colombian municipalities and the increasing needs of the health sector are described. A framework is proposed for achieving the goal of "social transformation with equity" through medical doctors trained within the Primary Health Care perspective.
