Resuscitation of the newborn at delivery

Abstract

This has been a brief summary of some of the present concepts of neonatal resuscitation. All newhorns deserve to be carefully assessed immediately following delivery. The vast majority of these infants will respond to simple procedures - stimulation, warmth, and oxygen. Immediate appropriate resuscitation often prevents later development of major problems, when treatment is much more difficult and complex. © 1983 Canadian Anesthesiologists.
