Abstract

A simple, sensitive, and reliable test for evaluating pancreatic exocrine function is presented. Small intestinal contents obtained by intubation are collected after a standardized test meal, and the trypsin concentration is determined with the use of a specific substrate. Data are presented from cases of acute pancreatitis, chronic pancreatic insufficiency, pancreatic tumors, and tumors of the bile ducts. © 1962, The Williams & Wilkins Co.. All rights reserved.
