Abstract

The heterocyclic ring of tetramic ac id s is fo un d in n aturally occ urred bio logically active products isolated from fungi, bacteria, molds, and sponges. Thus, these molecules have attracted si gnificant attention as synthetic targets, and various synthetic path s have been developed. Over recent years, a growing number of catalatic approaches toward functiona lized products heve been established in order toovercome the limitations of the conventional methods. The present review describes the strategies for the met-l-catalyzed and metal-promoted synthesis and fucthec decteottzotton of tetcomtc ocids, with emphosis on recent examples from the literature.
