Abstract

The Railway Technical Research Institute (RTRI) is tasked with the testing and research work of the Japanese National Railways. RTRI researchers in the various fields of physiology, psychology, and engineering are responsible for conducting testing and research ranging over a wide scope of disciplines including labor safety, work environment, workload, work aptitude, man-machine systems, as well as organizational psychology and customer psychology. To date, the data obtained provide the needed information for preventing railway and crossing accidents.
