Abstract

This paper looks at a novel foldcore-foam hybrid sandwich structure developed to provide extreme heat resistance. The sandwich consisting of mostly inorganic components is characterized for compressive strength, temperature resistance and thermal conductivity. Foam and foldcore components are both analyzed individually and in combination for compressive strength in experiments and numerically. The results show an interesting synergy between the foldcore and foam components.
