Abstract
So far Bali is known as an area with most of the Hinduism in Indonesia, but in fact at Udayana University there are also Muslim female students. This article examines the background of Muslim female students at the university who interpret hijab, whether because of culture, religion, or other motivations. This research is descriptive narrative to describe the opinions, responses, and backgrounds of Muslim students at Udayana University in interpreting the hijab and their opinions on the phenomenon of hijab fashion today. In data collection, researchers use observation and interview techniques to obtain more in-depth data. The results of the study found that Muslim female students interpret hijab as a protector and guardian of themselves. Some interpret it as a reminder, but some interpret it to beautify themselves. Whatever the reason, hijab shows their identity and obligation to cover their aurat as a Muslimah
