Abstract

In a search for novel tetramic acid derivs. with antimicrobial activity, a series of N-aryl pyrrolecarboxamides I (R = Ph, 2-MeC6H4, 3-MeC6H4, 4-MeC6H4, 4-MeOC6H4) was synthesized by amidation of the corresponding Et carboxylate with appropriate arom. amines. The results of the microbiol. screening indicated that these compds. possess both antibacterial and antifungal activity. [on SciFinder(R)]
