Abstract

An investigation was undertaken to study microwave pretreatment and dying process of wool fabric. Microwave pretreatment of wool fabric was carried out under variety of conditions in terms of the use of water, 50g/L urea, 100g/L urea in the treatment solution. The area shrinkage, surface morphology, crystallinity and dye ability of the pretreated wool fabric were measured. Effects of microwave fixation time and batching time before microwave fixation on K/S value were analyzed. Fixation, uniformity, color fastness, breaking strength and breaking extension of wool fabric were compared among cold batching fixation, microwave fixation and microwave fixation after pretreatment.
