Abstract

Organizations of March and Simon (1958) is one of the most important references in organizational studies. The work isa milestone for presenting concepts and theories that today permeate the scientific research in the area. In this paper Ipresent an overview of the seven chapters that make up the original work. Later I make a discussion of these elements, seeking to identify possible gaps for studies in decision making. For this, I review some seminal research that wereinfluenced or discussed the impacts of the work for the development of this field of study. A major contribution of thispaper is to synthesize in a few pages some of the concepts and theories that shaped the investigations of theorganizational field. The results provide also some important clues about the possible advances of scientific researchthat relate to decision-making.
