Abstract

Objectives: The study aims to demonstrate the role of media in shaping public opinion, which contributes to reinforcing democratic values and creating cultural values that enable the promotion of democratic values and freedom of thought. It also aims to empower societies to achieve democratic transformation and political reform, reflecting the nature of the relationship between the state and society, as well as between the elite and the masses. Methodology: The researcher used a descriptive historical research method by collecting scientific material from primary sources and references, and then analyzing and formulating it in a scientific manner to achieve the desired scientific results. Results: New media and communication tools are transforming public opinion and control under current global circumstances. The rapid spread of information and diverse social media platforms facilitate idea exchange, cultural interaction, and societal communication. This fosters democratic transformation and liberation through freedom of expression and opinion. Conclusion: The study concluded that media should work towards promoting the values of citizenship, democracy, and belonging among all members of society. It should guide people and contribute to changing the cultural discourse towards democracy and political reform. The media's role in promoting ideas and cultures due to freedom of expression is crucial in increasing citizens' awareness and culture to achieve the desired democratic transformation.
