Abstract

This paper present a theoretical discussion about competitive strategiesin lodging companies based on Porter's vision and emphasizing innovationto achieve competitive advantage in this industry. The methodology wasthe literature review from books and journals about, and. The results showed that the lodging companies dealwith fierce competition and the differentiation strategy is the bestchoice to achieve a sustainable competitive advantage. Innovation couldbe an important tool to achieve competitive advantage if it is used inthe three Porter's generic strategies to generate higher quality ofservice, besides improving the organization's image in the touristicmarket.
